Volkswagen, as of late, has been going through some dramatic changes, writes Motor Trend. And despite the current worldwide economic crisis, the automaker is still doing well compared to its competitors; sales are up in many markets, as are stock prices (thanks to a majority ownership move by Porsche AG). In the North American scene, the brand will be opening a billion-dollar production facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee by 2011 -- a plan the automaker says is still on track even with the weakening global credit market. |

From fish fry Friday frying oil to fossil fuel free bio-diesel, the Moosejaw Pizza and Dells Brewing Co. got creative this summer while trying to find a way to keep down delivery costs amid rising fuel prices. Although the situation doesn't seem as dire now that gasoline prices are under $2 and diesel fuel is less than $2.50 a gallon, that wasn't the case this summer. |

VW had planned to split the Beetle range in two – with a petite back-to-basics version based on the Up/NSF and a bigger, Golf-based model to replace the current ageing Bug writes Car magazine. However, the group's decision to make the Up front-engined has scuppered this plan. Which means we’ll see the new Beetle arriving in early 2010, following the traditional footsteps of today's model, and powered by a raft of petrol and diesel engines with the choice of manual and DSG 'boxes. |
